Kurishbayev A.K. was born on 13 April 1961 in Almaty. He began his professional career in 1977 at the Talgar Interdistrict Specialised Agricultural Enterprise.

In 1978, he enrolled in the Kazakh Agricultural Institute, majoring in Agrochemistry and Soil Science. After graduating, he continued his career at the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture. From 1984 to 1986, he pursued postgraduate studies at the same research institution.

From 1986 to 1997, Kurishbayev A.K. served at the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture as a junior researcher, chairman of the trade union committee, senior researcher, and, later, Deputy Director.

From 1997 to 2002, he served as the Director of the Kazakh Research Institute of Grain Farming, named after A.I. Baraev, located in the Shymkent district of the Akmola Region.

From 2002 to 2005, he served as Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In 2006–2007, he was the Director of the Science Department at the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2007 to 2008, he again served as Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2008 to 2011, he served as Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

From 2011 to 2020, he was Chairman of the Board of the S. Seifullin Kazakh Agro-Technical University. From 2020 to 2022, he was a Senator of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Secretary of the Standing Committee on Agrarian Issues, Environmental Management, and Rural Development.

Since 2022, he has been serving as Chairman of the Board – Rector of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University.

Since 2024, he has been President of the Board of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Scientific Activity

He is a prominent scientist in the fields of agrochemistry, soil science, and modern agricultural technologies. He has authored numerous research works published in internationally recognized scientific journals. He has conducted fundamental studies, authored monographs, holds patents and intellectual property certificates for scientific developments, and is a co-author of breeding achievements, including new varieties of soft spring wheat and barley.

Under his scientific leadership, a generation of highly qualified researchers has been trained, successfully defended their dissertations, and made significant contributions to the development of agricultural science.

He has overseen the implementation of several major scientific and technical programs and projects in the field of agricultural science and technology, including:

Decision-Making System for the Production of Major Agricultural Crops: This project involved adapting the DSSAT model for crop growth and development, integrating Smart technologies for livestock production management, and creating a digital agro-technology database for agro-industrial enterprises.
Transfer and Adaptation of Precision Farming Technologies: Implementation of advanced crop production technologies through demonstration farms (polygons) in the North Kazakhstan region.
Regulation of Soil Carbon Balance in Agro-Landscapes: A project addressing carbon balance management during land intensification in the conditions of Northern Kazakhstan.
Study of the Comprehensive Impact of Nitrogen Fertilizers: Research on the effect of nitrogen fertilizers on the productivity of spring wheat and spring barley in the steppe zone of Northern Kazakhstan.
