On May 12, 2026, as part of the 80th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences, the republican school competition “Zhas Kanysh” was held at a high level. The event was dedicated to promoting the legacy of the founder of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan – the distinguished scientist Kanysh Satpayev.

The event was organized by the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in cooperation with the public foundation “Otbası Xrestomatiyasy,” and with the support of the International Kanysh Satpayev Foundation.

This large-scale educational and intellectual event was aimed at fostering interest in science among the younger generation, developing scientific thinking, and supporting gifted school students.

The competition brought together 37 active school students selected from approximately 15 regions and cities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The participants demonstrated their knowledge based on the books “Kanysh and the Scientific Front,” “Zhas Kanysh,” and “The Youth of Kanysh,” which are dedicated to the life and scientific work of the academician Kanysh Satpayev.

The competition was held in two stages. In the first stage, participants completed tests, wrote essays, and answered ticket-based questions; as a result, 10 finalists were selected. In the second stage, the finalists answered complex analytical and philosophical questions, demonstrating their level of erudition and critical thinking skills.

The jury of the competition included renowned scientists, educators, and public figures. Among them were: the founder of the public foundation “Otbası Xrestomatiyasy” and educator Sanjar Kerimbay; author of the book “Kanysh and the Gylymi maidan,” writer Adilbek Nabi; Satpaev scholar, member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, and chief specialist of the Historical Museum of Satbayev University, Aspandiyar Adenuly; head of the Center for Education Sciences and Social Development at the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhengisbek Tolen; as well as project leader of AljabrA and OrtaXR, Sadyk Sherimbek.

According to the results of the competition, a student from the Almaty Region, Mukhametjan Ardak, won first place and was awarded a cash prize of 300,000 tenge. In addition, she received a 12-month subscription to mathematics and English language courses on the Qalan platform, valued at 250,000 tenge, as well as an annual subscription to the journal «Al-jabrdin atasy».

II place was awarded to a student from the city of Uralsk, Quttymurat Nizamaddin, who received a cash prize of 200,000 tenge, as well as a 9-month subscription to mathematics and English language courses on the Qalan platform, valued at 200,000 tenge, and a 9-month subscription to the journal «Al-jabrdın atasy».

III place went to a female participant from the city of Astana, Muratbek Sabina. She was awarded a cash prize of 100,000 tenge, as well as a 6-month subscription to mathematics and English language courses on the Qalan platform, valued at 150,000 tenge, and a 6-month subscription to the journal “Al-jabrdın atasy”.

Winners of the competition were awarded cash prizes, as well as special certificates and diplomas on behalf of the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Seven finalists were granted a special prize of 50,000 tenge each. In addition, the company Jana Bala provided participants with special gifts.

All participants received letters of appreciation and awards on behalf of the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as a book set “Qundylyqtar qaltasy” worth 30,000 tenge from the public foundation “Otbası khrestomatiyasy”.

During the event, special video materials were presented about the childhood of Kanysh Satpayev, his scientific journey, and his historical contribution to the development of Kazakh science, along with readings of memoirs about the life of the scientist. In addition, traditional songs were performed, poetry recitals were organized, and the event took on the character of a meaningful spiritual and cultural evening.

This competition once again confirmed its importance as a significant national platform aimed at developing the scientific potential of young researchers, popularizing the history of national science, and shaping the future generation of scientists.
