For conducting the foresight study in 2017, the initiator and executor of the project was JSC "Science Fund" of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project was led by Elena Valerievna Shevchenko, PhD in Economics.
On the project "Expert review with recommendations for updating promising scientific and technological areas, key products and services within this direction, technologies, and scientific research topics based on the foresight study conducted in 2013–2014: ‘System Analysis and Forecasting in the Field of Science and Technology until 2030’ within eight priority areas."
For the implementation of the scientific and technological foresight in the Republic of Kazakhstan for the period up to 2020, the composition of expert groups was determined according to the following priority areas:

As a result of the conducted studies, consolidated expert conclusions with recommendations for updating prospective scientific and technological directions, key products and services within the framework of eight priority directions, technologies, and scientific research topics were prepared. These conclusions are based on the foresight study conducted in 2013-2014 titled "Systemic Analysis and Forecasting in the Field of Science and Technology until 2030," implemented under the state assignment "Updating Foresight Studies Conducted in the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2030." The expert conclusions were compiled based on the expert opinions provided by experts engaged by JSC "Science Fund" on eight priority directions.
The consolidated expert conclusion was prepared based on the generalization and analysis of previously conducted studies, newly collected materials, and includes:
Main conclusions from the previous foresight on eight priority directions;
Recommendations for updating the results obtained within the project "Systemic Analysis and Forecasting in the Field of Science and Technology until 2030" on eight priority directions regarding key products and services within these directions, technologies, and scientific research topics;
2.1 Changes in global development trends of priority directions;
2.2 Current development trends of Kazakhstan within existing program documents on priority directions;
2.3 Proposals for updating the results obtained within the project "Systemic Analysis and Forecasting in the Field of Science and Technology until 2030" on priority directions regarding key products and services within these directions, technologies, and scientific research topics;
Proposals for conducting foresight studies in 2018 on priority directions;
Materials based on the expert conclusion regarding the update of foresight studies conducted under the project "Systemic Analysis and Forecasting in the Field of Science and Technology until 2030" on priority directions for presentation and discussion at a round table with stakeholders (presentation);
Recommendations based on the round table discussion of the expert conclusion on updating foresight studies conducted within the project "Systemic Analysis and Forecasting in the Field of Science and Technology until 2030" on priority directions.
To achieve the main goal of the project, tasks aimed at updating prospective scientific and technological directions, key products and services within these directions, technologies, and scientific research topics defined within the foresight studies "Systemic Analysis and Forecasting in the Field of Science and Technology until 2030" on priority directions were solved. Work was also carried out to prepare materials (presentation, report) based on the expert conclusion regarding the update of foresight studies conducted within the project for presentation and discussion at a round table with stakeholders. Expert groups participated in the round table discussion of the expert conclusion on updating foresight studies. Presentations were prepared, and a report was delivered at the round table. All proposals received during the round table on updating prospective scientific and technological directions, key products, and services within priority directions were included in the expert conclusion.
