The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and the National Academy of Sciences discussed the implementation of a digital water resources management system in Kazakhstan.
Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov met with Akhylbek Kurishbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The parties discussed digitalization of the water management sector, specifically the implementation of the DeepBas integrated water resources management system.
The project aims to improve the accuracy of water balance forecasting, optimize resource allocation, and promptly identify and prevent risks associated with droughts and floods. The system is designed to integrate data from various sources and support informed management decisions.
The meeting participants agreed to develop pilot areas for the project and its implementation timeline, and discussed the operating principles of the DeepBas system. Special attention was paid to information security and groundwater monitoring.
"We understand that achieving our goals requires studying and implementing advanced international experience, best practices, and technologies. Modern scientific developments open up new opportunities for improving the effectiveness of the state's water management policy. “Therefore, we support the proposal of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan to develop the DeepBas system,” noted Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov.
