III INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF YOUNG SCIENTISTS

INFORMATION LETTER

The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan is pleased to announce the III International Congress of Young Scientists, marking the 80th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan.

In the Academy's anniversary year, the Congress will focus on continuity across generations in science: preserving and advancing established research schools, passing on knowledge and research traditions, fostering engagement between distinguished scientists and a new generation of researchers, and highlighting the role of young scientists in shaping the future of science in Kazakhstan.

The III International Congress of Young Scientists will take place in Almaty                                   on 12-13 November 2026. The main events will be held at the Gylym Ordasy building (28 Shevchenko Street), while the thematic scientific conferences will be hosted by leading universities in Almaty.

The Congress aims to:

  • strengthen continuity across generations in science and promote dialogue between distinguished scientists and young researchers;
  • establish a sustainable international and interdisciplinary platform for sharing research findings, ideas and experience;
  • preserve and advance Kazakhstan's research schools while supporting emerging fields of research and new initiatives;
  • enhance young scientists' research capabilities and professional networks;
  • support the integration of Kazakhstan's young researchers into the international scientific community;
  • raise public awareness of science and showcase the achievements of young scientists;
  • address current challenges in science, including artificial intelligence, technology transfer and the commercialisation of research outcomes;
  • develop proposals and recommendations for strengthening the research environment and supporting young researchers.

The Congress will provide a forum for dialogue across generations, research schools and fields of study, bringing together leading scientists, young researchers, government representatives, universities, research organisations, businesses and the international scientific community.

The programme will include a plenary forum, five thematic scientific conferences, a panel discussion entitled 'Artificial Intelligence in Science', a roundtable on the commercialisation of research and scientific and technological outcomes, masterclasses, workshops and other scientific events.

The scientific conferences will cover the following areas:

1.     NATURAL SCIENCES

Plenary Forum

The centrepiece of the Congress will be a plenary forum dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan and continuity across generations in science. It will bring together prominent members of Kazakhstan's and the international scientific community, young scientists, established research leaders and representatives of different generations of Kazakhstan's scientific community. Particular attention will be given to the development of research schools, the transfer of research culture and knowledge to new generations, the role of mentorship and international scientific cooperation, and the responsibility of young scientists for the future of science.

Panel Discussion: Artificial Intelligence in Science

A dedicated panel discussion will examine the role of artificial intelligence in contemporary science. Participants will consider the use of AI in research, data processing and interpretation, and the development of new research methods. They will also discuss research ethics, the reliability of findings and the changing role of researchers amid the rapid advancement of AI.

Roundtable on the Commercialisation of Research and Innovation

The Congress will also feature a roundtable on the commercialisation of research and scientific and technological outcomes, bringing together scientists and representatives of innovative businesses, universities, research organisations and development institutions. The discussion will focus on technology transfer mechanisms, cooperation between science and industry, support for research-driven start-ups, intellectual property protection and the conditions needed to bring research and innovation developed in Kazakhstan into practical use.

Participants will include government officials; distinguished scientists from Kazakhstan and abroad; leading young researchers based at universities and research centres in Kazakhstan and other countries; representatives of international organisations; members of the National Academy of Sciences; members of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan; university rectors; heads of research organisations; representatives of the National Council for Science and Technology under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Kurultai; and members of the country's research and innovation community.

Congress Highlights:

  • presentation of the Academy's special 'QAZAQ GYLYMYNYN UMITI' Award (Academy Most Cited Researcher Award) to leading young scientists from Kazakhstan whose publications have received the highest number of citations in international journals;
  • masterclasses and workshops led by prominent scientists from Kazakhstan and abroad;
  • meetings between young researchers and representatives of different generations within Kazakhstan's research schools;
  • presentations of research and innovation projects;
  • networking opportunities designed to foster new interdisciplinary and international research collaborations.

The Congress will also host an educational science exhibition showcasing current research and innovation projects by young scientists and early-career researchers.

The III International Congress of Young Scientists will conclude with proposals and recommendations on advancing science, supporting young researchers, ensuring continuity across generations in science and strengthening cooperation among science, government and industry.
